Tim City: My First Computer Game
UPDATE 9/3/11 – I went ahead and played through every ZZT game of mine that I could find, although about a dozen are lost to the sands of time. Nothing of value was lost. You can view the whole playlist here.
As detailed in my first appearance on My So Called 8bit Life I used to make video games when I was a kid. For a couple of years I pretty much stuck to using ZZT, a game creation system developed by Tim Sweeney of Epic Megagames. There was a bustling community for it on AOL and the early web and it was one of the first online communities I participated in. We were all a bunch of pre-teens just goofing around, but I have fond memories.
Tim City was the first game I ever made. I was 13 or so and YOU CAN TELL. Bad jokes, bad programming, basically bad. Probably should have had some people beta test it because in this play through I had to use cheat codes and died once. Still, a fun glimpse into my past and my first big creative effort with the computer.
