Blog Log: Entertainment Legends Revealed!
Every Thursday we spotlight one of our favorite blogs. The blog can be funny, inspirational, information, or nonsensical. If you would like to suggest a blog to be spotlighted please click here.
What started as a series of Snopes-style eviscerations of comic book urban legends on Comic Book Resources has become a treasure trove of fun and engaging articles on Movies, TV, Popular Music, and other forms of entertainment. Did Bill Cosby try to censor Amos & Andy? Was the Little Mermaid modeled on Alyssa Milano? Was the song Breakfast at Tiffany’s inspired by a different film? E.L.R. blogger Brian Cronin has all the answers. And his original comic book column lives on every week and has also been turned into a book called Was Superman a Spy?.

Blog Log: Hacking Netflix
Every Thursday we spotlight one of our favorite blogs. Since Thanksgiving is tomorrow you get it a day early! The blog can be funny, inspirational, information, or nonsensical. If you would like to suggest a blog to be spotlighted please click here.
Despite it’s name this isn’t a site for hackers or cyber-Ne’er-do-well. Hacking Netflix is more a fan blog for Netflix customers. Whether you are looking to see if your shipping center is shipping on weekends or the latest developments on the Roku Digital Video Player, Mike at Hacking Netflix has you covered. While it isn’t officially sanctioned by Netflix, the blog generally verifies rumors before printing them, so unless the news is obviously speculative you can be sure it comes from the source. For your convenience every Monday they also publish notable new releases for your queuing pleasure.

Many of us fancy ourselves screenwriters, and some of us find ourselves having to write scripts for our jobs in marketing or media production. If you want to bone up on the craft as well as the business of screenwriting you’d do well to start reading the musings of John August. August is a professional screenwriter or such films as Big Fish, Go, and the upcoming Dark Shadows. On his blog he answers reader’s question, muses on the minutia of screenwriting, and gives some advice on marketing as well. You can also read his thoughts on pop culture and life in Los Angeles if that’s your thing.

Bleeding Cool is the go-to source for Comic Book news, rumors, and insight. It’s run by Rich Johnston, formerly of Comic Book Resources’s “Lying in the Gutters” column and dead body of the CSI comic book “Dying in the Gutters.” Based in England, Johnston checks in several times a day with the latest from the world of comic books. The site also features several columnists including the acclaimed Warren Ellis and an online comic book writing class by Batman legend Denny O’Neil. While you shouldn’t take everything he says on the site as gospel, it is always a fun read.
